Feb. 14th, 2007 02:12 pmIt snows. Also sleets. I write. Soon, I will edit. And there is azteca hot chocolate. Yum.
Is not my life exciting?
Also: wind. Wind + sleet = a suricata who knows where the flashlight and extra candles are.
I note that this being land of pragmatic and experienced new englanders, people are clearing their sidewalks not down to the pavement, but down to a quarter inch. That way, when the sleet hits, you get crunchy snow to walk on, not slippery sidewalk. MUCH appreciated.
Stay warm and dry, folk.

Date: 2007-02-15 04:30 am (UTC)About 8:30 last night, I fired up the snowthrower in anger for the first time this winter and moved anywhere from 4 to 10 inches of fluffy white stuff out of the driveway. The 25-30 mph winds were drifting it mightily (and it was still falling at that point). I also cleared part of the street in front of my driveway and in front of the mailboxes.
At 7 this morning, there were a fresh 4-5 inches on the truck, and the drive had... 4-10 inches of snow in it again. Plus it was about 8 degrees F. Cleared off the windows and hood of the truck, and used it to clear a path down the drive.
The plows might've paid our street a visit today. I don't know for sure, but I kinda doubt it.
It's clear, and currently 7F. We may get down near zero F tonight. The block heater is plugged in, the timer will kick it on at 4 am...
Hope y'all in the northeast stay safe. I'll rant about the national media's handling of this another time. People are dying in the midwest and all the national news is talking about it is how the storm is heading for the northeast...
Ahh, but we're just flyover....
Grumble.

Date: 2007-02-15 01:31 pm (UTC)We were out yesterday due to ice (people in Maryland have absolutely no concept of how to drive on it) and I only work today from noon to four thirty. I can handle hours like that...
Signed up for Lunacon. Tried to get on programming, but they said they had a bunch of people applying to get on this year...
