Actually I don't really play this game, because my characters come to me with their faces already on, as it were. But:

It's official - Jack Davenport is Sergei Didier. Except for the eye color, everything else works, including the height and body build. Ad, based on some of his quotes, he's got the mindset to play Sergei, too.

Now I just need to find a Wren.

Anyone got any ideas?

And yeah, yeah, I'm supposed to be working. I got distracted. Deal.

The picture didn't load for me. You may need to do a link instead, or host the picture on a separate site from the original one.

Actually, the actress who played opposite Jack Davenport as Susan in Coupling - Sarah Alexander - might work. She's got the petiteness, and the intelligence. She'd need a wig or dye job to fix her hair, and make-up, but the body type and movement are right. Plus, the two of them have the chemistry and working history. The downside, of course, is that pairing them up again will beg comparisons with Coupling, and Retrievers is so entirely different.

p.s. when I read Retrievers, I actually picture Sergei more as Peter Wingfield: http://www.peterwingfield.com/

I couldn't access the first picture so I did a Google search. I agree. He could be SErgei, though I was imagining him with a broader face, like Checkov in Star Trek. *ducks to avoid the rotten tomatoes* Then I looked at the second picture and couldn't see Sergei at all.

Of course, you didn't ask for my opinion, but I gave it anyway.

As for Wren, I picture a young Jody Foster.

*THAT is what he looked like when they finally got home.*

Aha! I see. I'll have to reread that section.

Don't ask me why, but I've envisioned Clive Owen as Sergei.

Wren's trickier, but perhaps Eliza Dushku (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0244630/)?

I saw a Didier in person--not the Retrievers one--last week, doing a food preparation demonstration at the Trader Joe's in Burlington, MA, he was cooking rack of lamb with ginger-something sauce for two, using ingreidents all from Trader Joe's. His shape was not that of Sergei--he was short and chunky, and with a definite Francophone accent, and strong indications that English was not his first language.

I'm still stuck on Mitch Pileggi.

I hate when that happens.
