1. XF shout-outs all over the place! You know it makes me happy. Even more so the way they pulled that case out. I have no damned idea if it's even theoretically possible, but it sounded pretty damn good to this non-biologist (and hey, if it's skiffy, can we nominate this ep for a Hugo?).

2. They brought the "for his own good" subplot to a solid thunking end the instant before it started to get overdrawn. And did it in such a way that all the participants will be dealing with fallout.

3. The ending totally grabbed the heartstrings and.... ow. Just...ow.

*gives cookies to everyone on staff*

Looks like they're going to try and up the stakes on the series next week. *anticipates*

(oh hell, I won't be home then.... [livejournal.com profile] kradical, you'll be recording it, yes?)

Hubba hubba, Hugh Laurie.
I love this show--it's nice not have the bright-eyed, sweet, always putting others ahead of him main character.
I wonder how he would come across in a book though...tolerable? Infuriating? Unreadable?

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

This is the third time, I think, that I've seen the "chimera" idea recently. It showed up on an ep of CSI, and there was an article in People Magazine about a woman who nearly lost her child because the child's DNA didn't match hers. I have no idea if the symptoms would result from a chimera--the woman described in the article had had no idea--but I suspect that the possibility does exist.

Yup yup. There was a Discovery/TLC/some-health-and-science-channel special called "I Am My Own Twin" that I saw last year, which was all about that woman and her legal battle to keep her kids.

Unfortunately, having seen that documentary, I had the episode figured out by 28 minutes in...rats.

Otherwise: the crack about Cutty being pregnant = awesome.

A show called "Strong Medicine" had a chimera storyline a couple of years ago too. Not common information, but it's turned up in enough places that I don't think of it as fiction.

Your post reminded me to watch House tonight--thanks for that!

Interestingly enough, Warren Ellis just stuck up this link (http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=2315693&page=1), which is about a chimera child. Cribbin' from the headlines again, House! Nice job. :)

One of the best parts for me was when House talked to the parents about the brain surgery. He seemed so genuinely happy he was going to do "really cool brain surgery." :-)

LOTS of shout-outs in this one. I had a good snicker over the "cunning plan" line.

I know this is totally irrational, but I so do not want him to go all the back to the way he was before; sure, he may limp but let's not have the pain be so much.
