Although there is violence and certainly some emotional and physical darkness in the Retriever series, I never think of it as being horror, or even dark fantasy, particularly. I tend to describe it as "contemporary caper novels with magic" and if pushed will describe the magic as "scientific energies harnessed by unknown means." And yet, horror readers seem to want to claim it, too.

Hey, I'm happy to hang out with everyone. Pass the bottle and turn up the tunes, dude.

The more the merrier, especially when it comes to the book-buying public. Now you just need to crack into the NYT list.

I think in this case, the plot involves the supernatural repercussions of a rather horrific crime, and that's probably enough of a horror element for these folks.

And it *is* cool. You're on the same list as a Theodore Sturgeon reprint!

On the other hand, how cool is it to be on the list with TED EFFIN' STURGEON?

I mean, c'mon. You've gotta love that.

Also, and I meant to tell you this, I finished STAYING DEAD about a month ago, right between my crash deadline for TRUST and my crash deadline for DEAD GIRL'S DANCE ... and I loved loved loved it.

What a great series, deserving of every single drop of praise and every bestseller list mention you get! Congratulations!
