I never got a chance to work with David (although we had some of his work under submission at one point, it simply didn't fit with what we were doing), but I always enjoyed reading him, and thought it a damn shame he didn't sell better over here.

My husband is an avid reader of his books, and got me reading him -- I reviewed his first Troy novel for The Mumpsimus.

Shocked and saddened.

Damn. He was one of the good ones. Good writer, good man.

I had the pleasure of meeting David when I put on a convention in Sydney. He was fantastic, and the single funniest speaker I have ever seen. Seriously, he should've been in standup. He made Pratchett look dull, which is a singular achievement. I'm very sad to hear of this untimely passing ... he was one of the most truly beautiful people I've ever met.
