A box arrived this morning with a housewarming gift (like the house needs any more warming, but I digress). No, it wasn't single malt. Or wine. It was... a meerkat.
A silky long-haired meerkat, which I've not seen before (all my others are plush) and with a rather inquisitive eye.
But it's official: between this, and the one I acquired while in Chicago, I now have enough for my own damn troop.
:-)
(btw, Dennis, she's definitely a she -- very feminine in appearance. She hasn't given up her name yet. I'll let you know when she does. And thanks -- she's adorable!)

Date: 2006-07-20 01:05 am (UTC)I just love velveteen plushies, they're so soft. Am I to understand that you're a collector?

Date: 2006-07-20 01:14 am (UTC)As to the collection -- look at the LJ handle*. It's not so much that I collect as I tend to acquire.
*okay, is it time for me to tell the Story of How the Suri Got Her Name again?

Date: 2006-07-21 05:21 pm (UTC)btw, when I was in Chester there was a zoo that had, among lots of other interesting animals, a pit full of meercats. I happened to be there at lunch time. Voracious is a mild word for them. Naked greed would be in the discription too.
Probably never...
Date: 2006-07-22 11:57 pm (UTC)OTOH, there is a Mozilla LJ client extension I've been meaning to test, so who knows...

Meerkats *do* live in troops...
Date: 2006-07-23 12:04 am (UTC)The source, BTW, is a certified Good Cause -- profits from the sale support a non-profit Tapir preservation fund. I had a lovely talk with the head of the fund while clarifying shipping and deciding to have it sent directly to you, as it wouldn't be available in time to present it in person. They were happy to print an emailed Word file and enclose it in the box as a personalized note.
I was delighted with the transaction. I'm happy your delighted with the new member of your troop.
