an interesting quote from an article in the Wall Street Journal:

"It's beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart."

They were writing about the hotel business and service industries in general, but it's a good thing for writers to keep in mind, too.

(hell, it's a good thing for everyone to keep in mind, probably...)

Especially true in fiction, when personality traits are going to carry the story miles further than what the characters look like...

I agree with the sentiment, but can't work out why they said "that" in the first clause but "which" in the second.

I wondered that too, but it's a quote so we're stuck with it.
