As many of you know, my Boomerang, Fool-of-a-Took, Cat of No Brain, is what one might call a Big'un. 21 pounds at last weigh-in, and the vet figured about 16 pounds of that is muscle and bone.

His healthy weight should therefore be around 17-18 pounds. I'm sure you see where this was heading...

I am pleased to announce that, three months after being put on a more careful feeding schedule (aka "no 24/7 noshing dish"), Boomer has not only rediscovered his waist (when you look at a cat from above, you should see a clearly defined waist) but his neck as well! He is still a Big'un, but now he looks more like a high school football player rather than a steroid-loving weight lifter covered in orange fur.

I now declare him (pending weigh-in) appropriately bulked-up for a boycat, and have given him an extra scoop of kibble to celebrate.


He still thinks I'm starving him to death, of course.

I have a tubby ginger boy too. Around here he's known as Mr Buddha Belly. *g*

OTOH, my other ginger boy weights in at @ 6 lbs, which is good going for him. He has a thyroid condition and recently nearly carked it with a virus. Sigh.

Harls already gets given way less food than everyone else. I think he's just one of nature's rotund gentlemen.

If your Boomer lost all 4 pounds then he's lost almost half of my Lilac's body weight.

But then she's a dainty little Lilac Point Siamese and has otherways to throw her weight around.

Pandora the Picky, Princess of all She Surveys, weighs about 7 pounds soaking wet. She can still set Boomer to running, if she's in A Mood (there are those who would say she's in a Mood all the time; this is utrue. She just doesn't like people who aren't me-and-mine).

Of course, if Boomer rolls over wrong, no more Pandora...

(he jumped down from the sofa onto my back last night, and I can now write about being kidney-punched with great accuracy. Poor stupid meatloaf had no idea why I made him move!)

Congrats on Boomerang's recovered waist! We went through this with Gray Mouser a while back, when she was basically hiding from the "new" dogs 24/7 and getting no exercise beyond stretching out her neck to nosh... but she is also more svelte again.

Simba's started noshing on the kitten kibble. Not sure how to stop that, but we'd better do something. He's bigger than this now.
