Normally I hate April Fool's Day, beause very few people are truly clever enough to pull off a prank that's not also hurtful or just plain embarassing. But Google, as usual, manages to make me laugh (and also had my sister, who was listening to me read off the details, taking it semi-seriously).
Meanwhile, I have a cold diet coke, a warm chocolate chip cookie, free wireless connectivity, and a quiet hotel room to work in for a few hours before I have to (horrors) go off to a fancy dress party tonight.* Life, as they say, is purrr-worthy.
*for those reading here who may be habitual attendees of I-Con (Stony Brook) or grads of Stony Brook thereof, the party is in honor of the bat mitzvah of my cousin, grandaughter of Ashley Schiff, he of the Ashley Schiff Forest Preserve.) Next time you're on campus, be aware the tradition lives on -- she's a budding activist of the most magnificent sort -- gracious and outgoing and totally convinced that you too shall see the wisdom of her words. We seem to breed them in my family, god help us all. Thankfully, I'm too damn lazy to do more than go rah team...
