Too soon, too suddenly, as reported by Steven Barnes.

And we can only say, damn. Safe, swift passage, Madam.

Damn.

I'd never read her until two days ago when I started "Parable of the Sowers" (read by Lynn Thigpen). I have a lot of catching up to do.

Oh my God.

Oh my God.

I have no words.

She was like, one of my ultimate inspirations. Her Parable books are my favorite reads ever, hands down. And I just read an interview with her last Saturday. I was just going to go buy Fledgling next month. I was just planning on sending her an e-mail or something - oh, man.

Now I am seriously bummed. D=

Yes, with a call to the county coroner's office. I wish the news were otherwise. It's over in Obits on SFF.NET.

I didn't know her, but this news threw me for a loop last night. To paraphrase someone on sff.net, I'll mourn the person, and all the books she never got to write.

Rest well, Ms. Butler.
