They announce that it's 102 outside, and nobody seems shocked by it.

They announce that it's 102 outside, and you just yawn.

They announce that it's 102 outside, and the cats don't have any more fur to shed.

Did you know that it's 102 degrees outside?

(heat index of 107, but at this point, who cares?)

Heat advisory, duh. We also have a severe thunderstorm watch on until 10pm. Bring it on, baby, bring it on....

and, in the spirit of the weather; words you never thought you'd hear yourself say:

"f*ck. my cell phone's covered in chocolate."

Welcome to the average summer day in Texas. I have no idea how people lived down here before air conditioning.

Heh, and is the cell phone okay? (They're remarkably hardy--I recently dropped mine into... a lot of water. It went into a coma for about 24 hours and then woke up.)

I've been in the Southwest long enough that the phrase "only 102 outside" actually makes lots of sense to me.

It's 46F Here

And I have to wear a sweatshirt. But I'm at 8500 feet and there's no oxygen or so everyone from NYC says. But now I bet you hate me.

That's a fairly typical summer day where I grew up and where I live now. Actually, the temperature is rarely that high. The heat index, on the other hand, is always like that.

Here in B'ham we have 2-3 thunderstorms per week in the summer, at least. Where I grew up further south, it's pretty much everyday in the summer. Not that you get hit each time, but there's always one passing close-by or overhead.

But you know, I really do like it. There's just nothing quite like the feeling the air gets after a thunderstorm has blown over.

I think the A/C was on the fritz at newark airport yesterday... i was dripping sweat by the time i reached the gate for my flight to seattle. (then i found a vent to sit under and got blow-dryed.)

I know, I know

Does it make you feel any better that we had those 102F days back in July or that we'll see our first snowfall early September? Or that I'll pay for my smugness with several days of below 0F weather sometime in January? To be honest, I prefer the cold. But then, that's why I'm a musher too.

Hoping it cools off a bit for you!
