Hve done all of them at one point or another. The only thing I haven't done is a) hsave my head (not an option) and gone totally blonde (also not an opton -- with my coloring? Nuh-uh)
Also not going to get a perm. Been there, done that, not worth the follicle trauma.
And dying it stark black, while an interesting novelty, would just make me look like I'm a month dead. Not a good look for me.
I voted no changes, simply because I haven't seen a recent pic of you. Is it still above your shoulders and soft brown? I could go for letting it grow, if that's the case. I'd vote against the cut simply because a good cut costs and needs upkeep. Same for good color--and if you're taking any meds right now, they can effect color absorption.
For what it's worth, the color I associate as your natural brown looks very good with your skin and eye color. If you go plum, you may be surprised. I wanted to do that, but my cutter was violent about it--and he's brilliant with color, he even proved I could go blonde, if it was the right blonde (streaky and multi-shaded. Strange men opened doors for me. Very weird.) But not black--he says I can wear black, but not my hair. It's the one no-no. The reds he puts in my hair (when we're playing, not right now) are definitely copper red--and I am a true Winter. Go figure.
So. If color, I say you must go see someone who does color well, and get the right shade of whatever you yearn for.
I've never done purple simply because I cannot yet support myself writing like a hermit. I have clients, and purple might make some of them uncomfortable.
My hair is, as they say, changeable. I was born a blonde, and my hair's now mostly (naturally) a caramel-y brown with highlights and lowlights that range from coppery red to honey blonde. If I spend any significant time in direct sunlight (i.e. the beach in summer) those highlights take over and I have tricolored hair.
It's something, I know, that people pay lots of money to accomplish. All it does is make me not quite sure what color my hair is at any given moment of the day.
Plus, ther's gray in there, now. Not much, but it's there.
Gee, you guys make it easy -- the overwhelming vote was for "letting it grow" which requires no effort whatsoever on my part.
The only problem with growing my hair long is that my hair is also very soft and fine, which means that the longer it becomes, the straighter it gets. If it gets very long, I may have to rethink that body wave...
Secondmost popular vote was for the dark red coloring. We'll see. Maybe (as was suggested in #horrorchat) I'll do half mink brown and hald dark red, and then put highlights of each in the other....

Silver in my case--and the silver doesn't cover well. Gray covers a little bit better, but not a lot better.
As you say--if they could bottle my brown, it would be the medium brown women really wanted--it's alive with color. But I understand your confusion. Being something recognizable would be amusing...

Date: 2005-02-22 02:05 pm (UTC)The problem with cutting it really short is that to keep it looking good, you have to get a haircut every six weeks or so. That can get mighty pricey.
And if you start dyeing your hair, when do you stop?
