(or, possibly, killed in a terribly vicious way)

Inspired by the writing community's phenomenal response to last year's "Do The Write Thing For Nashville" effor, a number of writers have banded together to create "Help Write Now," a writing community auction to benefit Southern storm relief (specifically, the Red Cross).

I'm not a huge fan of the Red Cross, for my own reasons, but this is a point of significant need, and so I've thrown an offering into the kit: the chance to be Tuckerized in the next PSI novel (the one I'm writing now).

The auction will run, I think, until Tuesday.

Friday night we went downtown to see "Freud's Last Session," an off-Broadway play I'd heard good things about: Freud & CS Lewis discussing faith, etc, on the day England entered WWII, three weeks before Freud killed himself. No new ideas proposed (both characters were true to their, well, characters), but thought-provoking, if you like that sort of thing (and I do) And quite well-acted.

Saturday was Bike Day. After three years sans bicycle*, I finally decided enough was enough. G and I went to a local bike shop and - despite planning to buy a very specific model of a specific brand, rode out with a Connondale Quick, $100 cheaper than the other brand for much the same bike. We then threw the bikes in the car and headed north to New Paltz, where we broke the New Bike in along the rail-trail in a satisfying manner, and then had dinner at a lovely little restaurant whose wine list, alas, did not match their kitchen. But the food was excellent and the company even better.

And then Sunday was Mother's Day Brunch at Chinatown Brasserie - Peking duck and dim sum for four, followed by pastry and pie until we could not move. Lovely meal, lovely day (including a random street fair and Buddha's Birthday celebration), and we convinced mom that NO they did not get to pay. I call that a successful Mother's Day/Mom's B'day Outing.

And now I am home, a glass of wine at my elbow, cats grumpy but quiet at my feet, and needing to contemplate the work I've been avoiding since Friday...

How 'bout y'all?

*I had not one but TWO bikes stolen up in New Haven. It made me cranky and unwilling to shell out more $$... but life changes and needs change and....
