Several years ago, I wrote a story - a post-apocalyptic horror story with literary stylings, called "End of Day." It appeared in Aeon #4. About the same time, I wrote a story - SFnal suspense - called "Dragons." It was also published, in ChiZine.

And somewhere about then I realized that they were the beginning and end of a larger story, including "In the Aftermath of Something Happening" and "Strange Playmates." Some of the pieces were more horror-tinged, some were more straight-up SF, but all had the same dark undertones of a history that could all too easily be ours. And then I wrote some more, and I thought to myself: self, it would be really cool to bring them all together, connected, the way they should be read.

Thankfully, best agent evah Jenn Jackson found an editor who agreed, and I'm pleased to say that DRAGON VIRUS now has a home with Fairwood Press, publication date TBA.

Considering I'm known for romantic fantasy, this collection may surprise some people. But it's as close and dear to my heart as anything I've ever written. I'm looking forward to sharing it with you.

[and many thanks also to Deb Layne at Wheatland Press, who was first interested in this project, before Wheatland went on hiatus. Her interest and encouragement meant a great deal to me.]
