Monday, not bad so far...
Aug. 24th, 2009 08:58 amThe weather's nice, I'm not ill, my workload's reasonable and enjoyable, nothing is bleeding or on fire, I slept a full 8 hours...as we sure this is a Monday?
Went to a farewell-to-NYC party last night [on a rooftop, how very NYC], and we ended up calling the fire department because we could see flames in the window of a building ten blocks up - and had the firefighters come to OUR roof so we could point out the building, since the flames had died down by then. It was all very surreal -- but we all agreed that there had indeed been open flames leaping behind the window of one apartment. There's a story in that.... either someone was playing around with bad spells, or they had a Salamander for a pet, in direct contradiction to all NYC fire and public health regulations....
I also finally met Felix Gilman and determined, as expected, that no, we're not related. Had the weird but good feeling to learn that they curse my name for taking up all the shelf space (I told his wife that I have long-hated Gaiman and Gibson, which I think made them feel slightly better). Normal people don't have these conversations, do they?
The icon choice is because today I finish off the read-through of Part 2 of Vineart 2, and begin the actual rewriting of parts 1 and 2, thus leading into the massive rewrite of part 3. Wheeeee!
Who else is having a good Monday? Come on, let's be rebels and counter the usual gloom of the day...
