My blog entry at SF Novelists (delayed by 24 hours due to technical SNAFUs) is up, talking about authorial grist for the mill, and why it's important to dive into things, rather than sitting on the sidelines.

Hopefully, I was coherent, interesting, and useful. Or at least amusing.

And now, a full day of work is tapping impatiently on the door, muttering about "vacations" and "deadlines" and such scary things...

Basically, I'm looking to add another 2-3 people to the crew. People who read genre, and who have a blog or other outlet where they are willing to write about what they read.

In exchange, I will in an irregular fashion (i.e. as I get them, usually one a month) send you advance galleys of genre books to read and talk about. Yes, free books. Well, galleys, mostly. Maybe even PDFs if you're that way inclined.

There is no obligation to say nice things, although we obviously hope you will. If, however, we send you books and then don't hear a peep from you, your name will be stricken from the rolls, you will be tossed overboard to feed the crocs, and someone else will take your oar.

Interested? Let me know. Lauraanne(dot)gilman(at)sff(dot)net.

We have filled the available seats, thanks! If you're still interested, let me know and I'll put you down as alternatives....

We now have alternates for the alternates. *grin* Thanks for playing. I'll be sorting and responding at some point in the next 24 hours.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Barack Obama issued four executive orders Thursday to demonstrate a clean break from the Bush administration on the war on terror, including one requiring that the U.S. military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay be closed within a year.

A second executive order formally bans torture by requiring that the Army field manual be used as the guide for terror interrogations. The order essentially ends the Bush administration's CIA program of enhanced interrogation methods.

A damn good start. Also necessary, if anyone was to take him and his stated goals seriously.
