I am told that there is a good review in the current issue of Starlog but I haven't gotten my hands on it yet.

Likewise, I am told there will be a short but useful review of le book in the September issue of Locus.

I am reserving judgement until I actually see these reviews, but there's some anticipatory pleasure waiting just to the left of my right shoulder...

Edit: Oh yeah, and finished Robin McKinley's SUNSHINE. A very strong read, but I found myself far more interested in her worldbuilding than her character. Sunshine (the character) and Con never quite became more fascinating that the worlds they lived in. I'm still not sure if this was a flaw in the book or not, since the world was so damn brilliant...

In other news, the revisions slog on. And it rains. The excitement never ends around here...

[livejournal.com profile] dpva, rumor had it you were looking for a roommate for Worldcon. If so, meet [livejournal.com profile] fgwriter, who needs a room to crash in...

I can vouch for the fact that, although you might drive each other crazy for more than 48 hours, neither of you will steal the other's wallet...

(in fact, you were both at the Annapolis signing last Friday. HIBK...)

A nice mention in the PW review of Powers of Detection for the Wren & Sergei story "Palimpsest" -- they don't rave, no, but they do say that "deft irony pervades (the story)." I'll take it.

And there will be (eventually) a good review of Staying Dead going up on reviewingtheevidence.com, which says, in part, "...an exciting, multi-level mystery...STAYING DEAD is a complex cocktail." So long as it's not a chocolate martini, I'm happy. *grin*

Also, if you were wondering what Dames of Darkness look like in the harsh light of The Morning After...

They took some pictures of us outside, too. In the direct sunlight. But the resulting smoke rising from some folks' skin made the photos unusable... (and you'll note that, once again, I evaded full frontal facial identification).

Gods, I'm tired. August has been...exhausting. I need a weekend of hedonistic pampering. Sadly, WorldCon is many things, but that ain't one of them. I am booked to the gills, and then some. *droop* If you see me in Boston, offer quality chocolate, high-end booze, and a back- or footrub and I shall do the meerkat purr for you...
