listen to the silence...
Jan. 4th, 2004 04:46 pmJust back from dropping James off at the airport, and back to a house filled with silence. Well, rain falling and the muted sound of Peter watching football in the bedroom, and distant traffic outside....
But other than that, silence.
It will take a day or two to get used to, this sense of empty house.
Fortunately, tomorrow I'm fully back into work-schedule, and so my brain at least will be noisy. I have a project to start for a small publisher, a book proposal to follow up on, a new editor to get in touch with, and the beginnings of a new story to mull (we went to the Museum of Natural History over the weekend and saw their exhibit on Petra, which was fabulous and made me stop midway through and pull out my Palm and scribble notes furiously, much to James' amusement).
But for now, going to curl up with my new DVDs of the entire Indiana Jones trilogy, a fuzzy blanket, and some bread and cheese, and enjoy the solitude...
