Saying that someone's opinion is stupid n conversation simply because you disagree with it, is not the same as saying "I didn't comment on unnamed incident elsewhere because I thought it was stupid."
In the first example, they're getting in a person's face and insulting them.
In the second, I decided that I wasn't even going to get involved because I thought the discussion was stupid, and said so to someone not involved in the original debate. No rudeness, no direct contact.
If you really can't tell the difference...well, that explains a lot, actually, as does your describing being told to abide by a community's rules as someone "getting the vapors."
