Because I see no need to say again what's already been said well, I merely point you here for a discussion of the recent flap over the "inclusionary" Church ad some networks are refusing to air...

Although I will also take this space to point out that ABC, which is owned by The Great Mouse, is airing the ad. The Great Mouse that has previously refused to cower before anti-homosexual group pressure, both financial and (allegedly) moral.

Support the right of people to live with dignity and protection no matter what their consensual sexual preferences? Go to Disneyworld! And hey, while you're there, can you get me a stuffed Eeyore?

I'm surprised at CBS, since Viacom is a very gay-friendly company. I should lodge my protest as an employee.

*blink*

You mean, I might have to actually respect the Mouse now?

Great. Talk about screwing with someone's world view.

Baby steps. Perhaps I'll just start with respecting ABC. :)

And all I keep thinking when I hear things like this is thank the Goddess there are some of us out here who refuse to be turned into sheep like the PTB seem to want. Talk about the victimization of America.

Sorry, I rethought that comment about 3 seconds after I posted it, so I deleted it.

I have never been able to verify any of this, but my second cousin had a lot of stock in the Disney Corporation up until his now ex-wife swindled him into selling it and taking the money. When I was a kid, I remember hearing reports that Disney basically trashed the environment in Florida when they built Disney World. Even though they went back in and mitigated the damage, I still have problems with the idea that they allowed it to get trashed in the first place if Walt Disney was half the environmental proponent he's built up to be in the Disney propaganda.

And I've searched for those reports off and on for most of my life, but I have yet to see anything to verify what I remember, so take it for what it's worth.

If you don't want to shlep all the way to Florida, you can get a stuffed Eeyore from a local Disney Store, or even online. [livejournal.com profile] gnomi and I have a "Classic Pooh" Eeyore as well as a Disneyfied one.

(Amusingly, a quick search brought up this page: http://www.worldcollectorsnet.com/disneyana/messagesdisneyana/791.html in which someone is trying desperately to sell all sorts of Eeyore merchandise...)

If you haven't already, check out the book Team Rodent by Carl Hiaasen. It's a slim non-fiction volume that packs a lot of info on the changes Disney wraught in Florida.
