Got my flu shot today. Right on schedule, I now feel like hammered crap. But better 12 hours of this than 2 weeks of please-gods-let-me-die flu, later.


(and yes, I have had the two-weeks-of-please-gods-let-me-die flu. Never again, if I can do anything to avoid it.)

I had an unusually strong reaction to this year's flu shot -- was feverish and achy all night, then tired the next day. But this was the first year I've gotten the extra-strength dose for older adults. (The clinic was out of it last year, so I got the regular.)

I wasn't firm enough in demanding the H1N1 vaccine, so guess what? I ended up 2 weeks of complete bed rest, then 2 more weeks of mostly-in-bed. At least I didn't come down with bronchitis, to which I am unusually prone. It took months to feel normal energy again.

H1N1 was a biatch. I was slowly recovering when news of it first broke on mass media, and all I could think was "oh, good, I wasn't overreacting, it really IS that vile...."
