mid-life not-a-crisis

One third of my belongings are currently wending their way across the continent. One third are in storage. And one third will be handed into the keeping of my sub-tenant in two weeks.

Right now, it's me, the cats, and a lot of quiet space where there used to be physical noise. I'm not sure if I like it or not. Either way, it's doing interesting things to my brain. I suspect there will be at least one new short story coming out of it....

Intentionally shaking up your life just to see what settles, and where. It's a good kind of crazy.

This is why I went back to college and why I'm going to China next year to teach for a semester. Scary, but a good kind of scary.

Shaking up the life is...interesting.

It's not moving across the continent, but moving from urban world back to rural world and doing long-distance remodeling for retirement life is...a bit of a change, one might say. I never realized the choice to retire from the day job could be so fraught.

Oh yeah. Having watched my folk go through it... retirement can be really stressful, especially if you're switching habitats, too.
