One Book a Week, Week Four

Summer, everyone knows, is for reading. Well, so are Winter, Autumn and Spring, but especially Summer.

So every week, from here through the end of August, I'm going to be giving away a book*. Some of them may be mine, some of them may be by other people. They may be just-out, or entry-points to an on-going series. It will be a totally random and whimsical choice, to keep things interesting.

How do you get in on this? Simple: you comment here on why you need something new to read. Vacation? Stuck in bed with a bad cold? Totally out of book-buying funds? Captured by aliens who insist on a new story every night or they'll eat you?

Fourth Book: HARD MAGIC by, well, moi.

(because the next book in the series, DRAGON JUSTICE, comes out tomorrow in trade paper, and some of you still haven't met Bonnie!  Or you know someone who needs to meet Bonnie....)

My name's Bonnie Torres. Recent college grad, magic user and severely unemployed. Until I got a call out of nowhere to interview for a job I hadn't applied for. It smelled fishy, but the brutal truth was I needed the work—so off I went.

Two days later I'm a PUPI— Private, Unaffiliated, Paranormal Investigator.

  

 Me and Nick, Sharon, Nifty and Pietr. Five twentysomethings, thrown into an entirely new career in forensic magic.

What our new bosses didn't tell us though, is that there are high-profile people who want us to close up shop and go away. We're sniffing out things they'd rather keep buried....

I was going to tell you that I need this book because I've really been enjoying your fantasy work lately (Vineart War) and I love paranormal crime/mystery stuff, but I think that if you pick my comment give it to slweippert above because my book budget is not tiny and I can afford to go buy it.

I need a new book because I have limited access to fantasy books not based on a role-playing game, and damn it, sometimes it's nice to hold and smell a real book while reading.

I backed the Miles to Go Kickstarter project, but I haven't actually read any of the Cosa Nostradamus books starring Bonnie. I'd love a chance to read about her adventures before I start in on Danny's.
