"Lost"and "CSI: NY"
Sep. 22nd, 2004 10:49 pm"Lost" is, so far, Jurassic Survivor. Interesting cast, interestingly photographed, and maybe interesting plots.... I'll give it one more episode before I decide.
Hrmmm. It's not the original, no, but I'm liking it. Feels right. Sounds almost right (they're doing an interesting quietness in the background that's unnervingly effective). Looks right (if blue). Liked the plot -- nicely twisted. Quite like Sinise's Mac Taylor -- rough-edged, street-compassionate, but nowhere near perfect. Even before I knew what his background was, I could have guessed (ex-Marine). The way he spoke to the vic in the hospital, even though there was no way he could be certain she could hear him, was lovely. The other characters are going to need time to unfold, but Hawkes (the coroner) is already growing on me. I'll be there next week. And the week after. After that...we'll see.
And I do like the choice of theme song.

I dunno, it just doesn't work for me.

Date: 2004-09-22 09:34 pm (UTC)I missed Lost because it was on against my beloved Smallville, which, since Buffy left the airwaves, is now my favorite show on television

Date: 2004-09-23 06:20 am (UTC)Except for one minor issue, once a plane "disappears" or goes off course or suddenly changes directions or doesn't arrive where it's suppose to, it sends up a red flag--especially these days. Contrary to populated belief planes just don't disappear into thin air and nobody says, "Oops Walter, we lost another one. Looks like you're going to win the missing plane pool."
And unless the instrument navigational system went out, there's no logical reason (except to make this lame plot sound plausible) for the plane to turn around...and this still doesn't explain why the cockpit (nose) of the plane landed in one place (and this after the tail came off) and the fuselage landed on the only "safe" spot on the supposedly uncharted island...Once all those things happened that plane would went down like a rock.
With or without radio, the plane has to land someplace, how's the pilot supposed to tell air traffic control he's in trouble? What a disaster it would be if a plane sudden;y showed up in a certain airspace, unannounced, and just decided to land...
Besides, in this era of exploration, it defies any logic that an island of that size would be "uncharted." especially in that region of the world.
And let's not forget the "mysterious" force that sounds like a cross between Predator and space aliens from HG Wells' War of the Worlds.
THe show is lame, and won't last until January.
