Y'know..... well, y'know. When even the die-hard vote-Republican citizens-who-can-still-think-unaided are shaking their heads and going "no, man, oh no..." and buying 'smoosh Bush' dolls, it's time for the GOP to dump their candidate, apologize to the entire country, and spend the next four years sitting in the corner.

Sadly, ain't gonna happen. Too many voting citizens seem to have checked their brains, their self-respect, and their ability to discriminate between Spin and Fact at the voting booth door. And don't think the GOP doesn't know it.

I think our only hope is those people like one of my friends who is a conservative--a REAL conservative, for better or worse. He's reached the point where he can't support Bush, but he can't talk about it. We're all carefully avoiding the topic and not teasing him about it...because it really isn't funny anymore. If those people just quietly vote for Kerry to keep Bush out...

My worry is they're gonna steal Florida again--or screw with the Diebold machines.

Yeah, I have a friend who is sitting this election out. He won't vote for Kerry but can't, in good conscience, vote for Bush.

I have my fingers crossed that a) he doesn't change his mind at the last moment and b) that he's not alone.

Know it? They're counting on AND courting it! USA Today has a letter to the editor with the latest senseless talking point - how can people talk about the economy when there are terrorists out there! If the terrorists attack again, no one will be thinking about the economy! (Wanna bet? Also wanna spend a second thinking about the possibility of another attack vs the inevitability of dealing with the economy?)

I've been really p****d at the way the Republican party bosses have stolen the title "conservative." Bush and Co. are _not_ conservatives. They are radicals. My daddy raised me to believe that conservatives are in favor of small central government, balanced budgets, strict construction of the Constitution, learning from history, and planning ten or fifty years down the road. I don't see any of the above tendencies in the current admin....

As an anarchist living with a libertarian (*not* the match-up I'd thought I'd end up with, for sure!), I hear daily about the sins of the Republicans against the "conservative" vision of small government. I believe very strongly that the larger a government gets, the more removed people are from the consequences of their decisions, and the greater the opening for tyranny. From where I'm standing, the US has one party, the Repub-ocrats, and most Americans think voting for one wing or the other is an important choice.

the way i see it difference these days between Rep and Dem is former subsidizes companies and the later sudsidizes people... At least the money is distributed to more than 1% in the later.... But how true is even that? We need more party/candidate contribution reform. Too much money flows into the hands of elected officials in the form of PACs and the like. How can the common man's interests best be served an elected official's best interests are pleasing their fat cat sponsers?

I don't understand how not voting helps anything? While I'm not that crazy about Kerry and most empahtically dislike Bush. I rather choose the lesser of two evils than have someone else make the choice for me.....

It's a matter of conscience. He doesn't beleive that Kerry is a good choice for the country. He doesn't beleive that Bush is a asfe choice for the country. Sometimes, the lesser of two evils is still an evil. All you can do is respect someone's choice to mark and stand their line.

Since hearing that both Bush and Nader missed the filing deadline in Florida, but will be on the ballot anyway, I'd say Florida is once again on its way toward setting new historical lows for American elections.

I respect their choice I just have a little trouble accepting it :) As you say, Bush is not a safe choice for the country why not try to improve the chances that he will not be re-elected than just sitting by and watching from the sidelines. To me, inaction is just as "evil" in some cases. (I'm not trying to deride this person or their choice..I'm just stating my opinion :) ). To me they aren't standing their line... they are leaving the field with their fingers in their ears going 'LALALALALALALALA'.
