Last night I went out to the KGB reading series, and had a wondeful time listening to Nick Kaufmann and Laird Barron reading - and then was a good and wise bunny and came home instead of the usual post-reading dinner, getting to bed before midnight, huzzah!

This morning I woke up and could use the bathroom without passing under plastic sheeting, stepping over taped-off areas, worrying about dust or the stray tool left waiting somewhere unfortunate (no, the guys were never that careless). The lights were in the right place, the floor underneath was tile, not plywood or tarp, the tp was actually within reach where it should be, and there was no stink of chemicals or burned wood or grout in the air.

It's amazing, the things you can get used to. And how easy it is to slip back into the "old normal."

Today, The Plumber returns. If we are very very lucky and sacrificed the right chickens, the new toilet will go in, the sink will be hooked up, and all that will be left is the punchlist....
-------------------------------------

9:47 Plumber and Plumber's Nephew is here. They are hooking up the sink and the tub fixtures first, then will attack (bad choice of words?) the Problem of the Toilet.

[the original toilet works perfectly well. The replacement one, which matches the tub and basin, does not. This is Puzzling to the Plumber. Experiments Will Be Made.]

11:30: things you never want to hear during plumbing work: "well, that doesn't sound good."

12:00: Sink and tub installed sans problem. Toilet... (apparently it's a water pressure problem. We have too much of it?)

3:20: I have taken a shower. I have placed all items back into the (new, shiny!) medicine cabinet. I have put the litter box into its new place and hoped the cats will accept it.

I have, to all intents and purposes, a New Bathroom.

And there was much rejoicing.

And now there is no excuse not to finish these revisions.

Keep me abreast of those experiments. I am planning on replacing one of our toilets this Spring, and I'd not want to have any issues.

Things you never want to hear during electrical work (yelled from the top of the house to the bottom, quite unconcerned about the clients within hearing): "Boss, is blue neutral?" [Answer: no, it isn't. Blue is live. Aaargh!]

What's a punchlist?
