DRAGON VIRUS: a tragedy in six evolutions / an evolution in six tragedies
(now available for pre-order from Fairwood Press)
This is what I'm calling a linked-story novella, although it can also be read as a collection, depending on how you approach it. Some of the stories were previously published, some are all-new, and all have been reworked to, together, tell the story of The Change.... Is it really a tragedy? That, m'dears, is for the readers to decide....

Date: 2011-02-19 01:16 pm (UTC)Sigh. If I were queen of the world.....I have this book called The Orient in Western Art and you would not believe....Oh, crap, I'm rambling again, aren't I? Sorry.
I hope more authors get into e-marketing their work. Cut out the middle man and I'm more than happy to shower money on writers more directly. Sorry. Shutting up now.

The trick is, making sure you still have a good editor to keep you from releasing work that's Not As Good As It Should Be out into the wild. Self-publishing has its pitfalls...
The small press/e-format combo is a good one for a lot of projects like this - it gives collectors and tactile people[tm] an object to caress, er, hold, and allows the editor/publisher to recoup some of their time/money on sales, and then hands over the longer term e-sales directly to the writer and their tech of choice. It's not the answer for everything, but I'm quite pleased with it, here.
