to compare: 10" netbook to new 23" monitor*...

I'm trying very hard to stay focused on the work to be done today, and not 'waste' time rearranging my workspace to fit the new darling, but it's diiiiificult!

*I had previously been using a very nice 16."

You'll love it. When I bought my new machine back in May I was able to get an upgrade to a 23" monitor for real cheap. So glad I did. You're going to have to do a lot of trial and error to get the settings right for you. I have to run my browser with a zoom of 125% and text size of larger in order to be able to read the print. And I have to zoom my email up to 200% to be able to read that. But then I'm older, too...

True happiness, I discovered a few months before I left The Place Which May Not Be Named, is having *two* monitors.

Seriously. I wudna thunkit, but it is wonderful. And being able to drag-and-drop from one monitor to another.... *blissful sigh*

Even a 17" was too small for me, I wanted a 20". My husband decided I needed an Air to replace my decent but aging laptop, about which I was not complaining. It's a smaller screen (grr), a smaller disk (grr), slower & less memory (grrr), and only one blasted USB port (roar!). While I can plug in a hub, the external drive only works plugged into the machine directly, as does, I think, the iPhone hookup.

ALL my music had to go to the external drive, which does NOT get backed up by Time Machine. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I am deep in envy of your large screen!

Yeah, well, Steve makes some stupid decisions sometimes. It was an effort to make the Air light. The old one wasn't that heavy, compared to all the paper I've hauled along with it!

If I'd known the specs when my husband wanted to buy it, I would have said no, and we'd all have been happier.

Give it to him. Then buy yourself a new one!

Alas, we're a bit short of money due to unexpected suddenly-needed house repairs, which we thought would be covered by insurance, but weren't. $6000...
