For one: many, many tech and media seminars, being live-tweeted for discussion.
This morning, @RonHogan is part of an ongoing discussion about authors, publishers, and self-marketing. He said, and I quote, "Authors: doing your own publicity & marketing isn't ALWAYS about yr house failing you. It IS always about investing in yr success."
To which I replied: "It is essential, tho, for authors not to feel they're alone in the process... the publisher needs to be invested, too. Even if it's simply to make tools/materials available to the author for his/her use."
The future isn't self-publishing, or e-publishing, or whatever-new-tech publishing. It's smarter publishing, using everything we've got. And the conversation about how to get there is being held, at least in part, on Twitter.
