thoughtful on a sunday afternoon
Apr. 25th, 2010 04:21 pmInteresting possibly only to myself, but I make note of it anyway: some of you may have noticed I'm no longer overtly activist* on this site**.
It's not that I've stopped talking and working toward what I think is fair and just. I don't think that everything's peaches and keen-wow, now. I've certainly not gotten too jaded or bitter or complacent to pick up my sign and march, metaphorically or otherwise.
I'm just tired, I think, of trying to drag other people along with me. There's only so much energy in the meerkat, and I'm trying to do an awful lot each day. If you're here, and reading, I'm going to assume a certain level of awareness and intelligence. You know what's going on in the world, or where/how to find out. You have the ability to decide what you believe, and what hills you are willing to fight for, and which ones you are willing to die on.
And if not, then all my posts and pushing won't change your apathy.
I might be wrong, though. You might be wanting to do something but not knowing where to start. You might want to gather new viewpoints, rather than try to change my mind or have me try to change yours.
If so, feel free to mention that. I blog to clarify my own thoughts, sometimes, but I'm happy to be useful to other people, too. :-)
*I say activist rather than political because I've never been much for politicizing matters; for me most of my activism is on a "be true, be fair, be humane" level rather than doctrine. I have a great distaste for doctrine of any flavor.
**okay, by the standards of the Bush League years,anyway...
