Saturday Recap/Sunday in progress
Apr. 25th, 2010 09:19 amAfter a morning being Virtuous and working, Cute Puppy and I spent a few hours in Central Park, hanging with the other puppes, kids of all ages, and perfect weather conditions (mid-60's, bright sunshine, slight breeze). Then it was downtown to meet up with The Known Troublemaker(s) from Texas for a beer at vol de noit (I had La Chouffe, which goes on the shortlist of beer_yums)
Although my plan had been to settle in and get some work done after, before the second part of the evening (while TKTT went to dinner with co-workers), they were kind enough to drag me along ("I travel with these guys, they know my stories. You're a new audience!") to Barbuto, where every dish was excellent (forks were flying around the table). My pan-fried skate wing was delish, but man it's been a while since I ate anything even remotely fried. My stomach was all "that's good. don't do that again for a few weeks, ok?" Next time you're in the West Village, try to get a meal there. Suri-recommended.
And then cross-the-villages to The Bourgeois Pig on the East Side. I'd been wanting to get there for a while and now I'm wondering what took me so long. Beautiful, just-shy-of-tacky space, great staff, very nice menu, good acoustics, at least where we were seated. Alas, I had to get home to take Cute Puppy for her walk, so I kept to a simple glass of wine (v. good, generous pour in a proper-sized glass) rather than some of the holleeeshit wine cocktails they have. Next time...
Today I was supposed to meet another friend for brunch, but we woke to pouring-down rain and exhaustion, and so have postponed for a better day. Good day to take advantage of NYC's delivery conucopia. Took Puppy for walk, now she is napping at my feet, and I have a manuscript to edit, and another one to write...
