here we go again...
Mar. 18th, 2010 10:46 amY'all are following the most recent Amazon attempt at bullying publishers into accepting unfavorable terms or be unlisted, right?
Me? I don't shop at Wal-Mart because I don't like their policies, and I'm willing to pay the extra dollar or so to support retailers that behave well. I won't shop at Amazon any longer, either. But that's a decision you've got to make on your own.

::shakes head::
I'm sort of curious as to what Amazon is charging for the Spenser books, but I don't want to give them the hit. I'm going to see if one of our local indies has them.

In other words, to do business with Apple, publishers must export Appleās business model to all retailers. Amazon, by contrast, has not promised to adopt the agency approach for any but the largest publishers.
It goes back to my original problem with this whole thing. Whenever one part of the distribution chain has the unreasonable ability to affect the price charged by another, the system breaks.
