Two phrases used this morning: "Multi-grain" (to indicate someone who drinks Irish whiskey, Scotch, and American bourbon), and "the Puking o' the Green."

Must be St. Patrick's Day.

Meanwhile, I am informed that I too have been hit by the "this book is too expensive so even though I haven't read it I'm giving it a 1 star review" bandit on Amazon. Dude, take your petty bitchiness to the publisher, and don't rate something you haven't read. I didn't set the damn price, and you can just wait a few more months and pick the damned thing up in paperback, okay?

[for the record: I can handle bad reviews... when they're actual reviews. This is some jerk getting off on whining, and hurting me (and a number of other writers) while he does it. I have no patience with that.)

Meanwhile, I've been working so hard today, coming to the end of a particular project was like Wile E Coyote suddenly realizing he'd run off a cliff... what? huh? Aieeee! splat.

And then, because I am a cartoon character in real life, I pick myself up and go after the next roadrunner, er, item on my to-do list.

However, it's 5:30pm and 64 degrees and sunny. I think it's time for the first rosé of Spring. How fortunate that there's one already chilling...

Isn't there an option to have a review removed? If not, how convenient of Amazon to use the random one-star to enforce it's bully pulpit.

It wouldn't surprise me that one-star believes he's performing a valuable service. Some people are like that.

Speaking of stupid people, did you see this guy (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/031610dnmetjailguard.3d93cdf.html)? Talk about your epic fails...

He probably disapproves of dragons, too....

This from a man who claims dinosaurs were destroyed because humans had sex with them. Um.... *checks for logic, logic-meter refuses to go anywhere near the guy, and in fact self-destructs on the spot*

You know, the Creation Museum (yeah, the mind boggles calling it a museum) is just across the river in Kentucky. I wonder if he got the idea from there.

(And don't get my wife started about that place. She's a Geologist by training. Nuff said.)

Would that all the bigots were so mind-blowingly stupid/obvious.

The scary thing is that he's probably not alone in the universe in his belief system.

I'm sure that he figures that dragons resulted from angels having sex with dinosaurs. Or maybe unicorns.

Gah! Don't read the comments.

There's also this, about the SD state legislators who want schools to teach (http://blogs.forbes.com/sciencebiz/2010/03/south-dakota-legislature-declares-that-astrology-can-explain-global-warming/?partner=artctrlinboxmain) that global warming is caused by "astrological" forces.

As for Mr. One-Star, I marked his review as inappropriate, then went to his profile and did the same to his identical review of The City & The City. When I've done that in the past (and remembered to check back later) I always see the reviews have been pulled.

Can I interest you in an Acme Novel-o-Matic?* It will solve all your plotting, 'shipping, and Amazon search rank problems quickly and painlessly. Just plug it in next to the Grand Canyon, and...

* Does not work for citydwellers.

I'm just here for the snarking. And I thought the elephant would cheer you up.

Yeek.

Maybe they ought to try for a fiction award for that piece of legislature.

Maybe you could have a crazy person in one of your upcoming novels spew that for a while, especially after one too many Jack Daniels.

See, now if I'd seen this before I saw your post on FB, I'd have had a different reaction.

He's probably thinking he's hurting the publisher and hurting Amazon by pissing and moaning in the place most convenient. He's a moron in need of attention. Best thing you can do is ignore his existence. The Endless eBook Battle got another front with the Amazon price fail. It's already been pointed out repeatedly to the moron in the comments section that he should take it up with the publisher. Anyone with a brain stem (IMNSHO) can read that and see the idiot didn't read the book and is just pissing about something completely unrelated. Ultimately, I come down to this question: is it really worth wasting your energy to be annoyed by this idiot?

The rosé sounds like a nice choice (and one of the few things alcoholic that I'll occasionally drink). But you need to add a hammock.

Makes sense, from his POV.

A terrifying worldview.
