Destination: Dublin
Mar. 4th, 2010 09:12 pmEver have one of those 24 hour periods where everything just fell into place, where even the things that didn't quite go right went well, and there wasn't a single irritation to mar the day?
Yeah. It's been like that.
And now it is 9pm and I am stuffed full of proper fish-and-chips and tea (after Irish stew and sodabread for lunch*) and I have napped just enough to hold off jet lag but not enough to ruin tonight's sleep, and I have walked dear gods probably ten miles today because the weather, rather than being rainy and cold was sun-bright and chilly. All in all, I call that a good day.
And that's not even counting the Irish whisky tasting I did (Terri, I found the store. It is indeed a marvel. Not sure that bottle of Writers' Tears is worth the $$ though, alas).
I have also discovered that terms like "return" rather than "round-trip" and "take-away" rather than "take-out" fall naturally from my lips under the required situations, and at least one person has already asked me if I live here. *boggles* Other observations have already started to percolate, but I want to see how/if they firm up over the next few days before I commit them to public view. And I'm gathering the needed information and it harmonizes with what I'd plotted, so yay.
My hotel is shabby but very clean, the staff is friendly (and had extra adapters so I could charge both my phone and my netbook, yay) and the shower has decent hot water under decent pressure. And the bed's near-perfect for both napping and curl-up-reading. Which is what I am going to do now.
(and yes, I know the icon is from Paris, not Dublin. I need a "traveling meerkat" icon)
*I can tell already that I will be craving green salads by the time I get home
