A fellow Luna author reports snagging a copy of Staying Dead from her local (Alaska) chain store last night. ETA: and bn.com claims to be shipping within 24 hours.ETA2: Amazon.com is shipping.

Let the buying begin!


(note: they were shelving pretty damn early... not really 'available' for another week, reportedly. But hey, can't hurt to ask your local book-pusher...)


This calls for coffee. At this point, actually, pretty much everything calls for coffee.

I never used to drink coffee. I was moderately unsufferable about it, actually (I'm a cafFiend worshipper, but in other forms). Two weeks in Italy will cure anyone of not drinking coffee, however.

Mind you, now I'm a total snob about what sorts of coffee I do drink. Although not so much as some folk (which reminds me, agamisu never did give me a report on the expensive shite coffee, as promised. Must schedule a pout at some point).

There's a freebie coffee machine here at work that dispenses cappuccino. Or claims to, anyway. I have serious doubts.

I'm not a coffee snob, but I know good coffee and bad when I taste it, that's for sure. The difference is, I'll usually still drink the bad coffee.

Some of us cannot and never have drunk coffee. I need my caffeine as much as the next woman however, sometimes more, and I get it through tea, often, in the immortal words of a colleague, "strong enough to trot a mouse over" with milk and sugar.

In the US, there is more bad tea than bad coffee, because there are so few places in this country that know how to make tea. Sigh.

Italy was a problem, although the last time I was there I could manage a morning latte and sort of fake it through the day. Alas, now I can't do coffee at all, so I don't know what I would do. They simply don't know from tea in Italy, except for camomile tisanes and that sort of thing. Not. Tea.

Diet coke, anyone? :-) I haven't really tried drinking coffee since college, when it would inevitably make me sick to my stomach -- of course, the fact that I was drinking it in the middle of the night in order to stay up all night finishing assignments wouldn't have ANYthing to do with that...

Was reading an article recently about a cold-brewing method for making coffee that almost made coffee sound tempting for me -- apparently, it makes a much smoother, less acidic brew, which is much easier on the stomach. I may have to check that out sometime.

I spotted "Staying Dead" in the local Books a Million on my lunch hour. Alas I have to wait for the shipment from the Great Brazilian River. But it does indeed exist.
