lagilman: coffee or die (madness toll)

So I'm in the process of proofreading the Cosa Nostradamus stories that will be in the BookView Cafe collection prior to taking on the OMG Ack task of formatting it, and I thought maybe I should offer a something 'extra' for people who buy all five stories together, rather than individually. But what would be "value added?"

Damned if I know. So I figured, hey, why not ask the LJ Groupmind what they'd want?

Votes are for consultation purposes only and the winning votes will not be considered binding, although I'd be a moron to ignore an overwhelming majority, and I try not to be that stupid....

I think an intro to each story about the writing of it would be verra cool....

Myself, I'd go looking for a brand new story, exclusively available in this collection. And yeah, story introductions would be nice, too.

I was going with that as well. Maybe include the PB story for free with the set?

I would like to read PB's take on the Cosa Nostradamus. It would be fun!

Assuming you haven't purchased it already, yes. Honestly, I have them all in HC so it doesn't matter to me, but lets say the PB story is $2.00. If you haven't purchased the set or it yet, thats a $2.00 savings.

My original thought was a totally new original story, but I've seen you talk about your workload.

Choices, choices...

Thinking seriously on this. You didn't have to ask our opinions; so if you're going to take time, then I should too:

1. a short piece on the writing of each story

I'd love this, but think it may primarily appeal to those interested in the craft and process of writing. I imagine that some of the folks may be "readers" rather than "writers" so the extra that you're offering would start out as being a reward for only SOME of the buyers (not that everyone wouldn't enjoy it).

2. a few outtakes from the novels and/or unpublishable bits

I always like the little extra bits of the story. Sometimes they offer a great new perspective. Depends on if you've got a lot of great outtakes and/or unpublishable bits that you'd: a. Be willing to share and b. Were interesting enough and would be enough added value.

3. me talking about the world of the Cosa Nostradamus

I'm not sure about this option. I think I'd like it as an interview or a podcast. Something more immediate and personal vs. something written. I was just thinking about format and its impact on content.

4. one of my characters talking about the Cosa Nostradamus

I think this falls under the same as #2. It offers an additional perspective and you can indulge in skewing it as much as you'd like as it reflects the Cosa as the character sees it, not necessarily as it exists in the reality of the book. Lots of opportunity for fun.

After careful consideration, my vote would be #4. Perhaps even their opinion on some of the events of one of the books.

Thanks for the opportunity!
Best,
Day
