No matter how hard I work at the crafting, no matter how many times I study the plot and consider the crosslines, no matter how well I research or how deeply I world-build...
A book, once written, will never match the dreams I had at the beginning.
That's normal. That's natural. The failure isn't in not capturing the width and breadth of your dream, but only in not trying to bring the dream to life.
And each time you try, you're further along than you think.

I spent Black Friday reworking some proposals Madame Agent and I had discussed, and sending them back to her so she'll have something to harass editors with before everything shuts down for the year (vacation? Not so fast, children. Get back here!)
And me, I have December waiting for me like this tightly-wrought, well-through-out plan that is just waiting for the first engagement to go utterly, awesomely awry. Tonight, I go to bed early, with the last of the Nero Wolf dvds, and a mug of tea. Yes.
[also, despite
quarkwiz's ebil enablement, I did NOT buy the half-price Wüsthof Santoku knife. Um, yay?]

Date: 2009-11-28 12:09 pm (UTC)Also, they have a Shun Nakiri knife for $10 more. And I think I might need that one, rather than just lusting after it...
(I have no true chopping blade, as my Bigass Chef's Blade is too large for detail work)
