In the dream, as always, he walked on a shattered, splintered boardwalk, the wind wrapped harsh around his neck and the sticky stiffness of salt in his hair, waiting for the moment when bones would knit his weary soul back into his flesh and allow him to wake once more, healed and whole, ready to fight once more.
