An Open Letter
My dear Friends, Acquaintences, People I don't really know well, and those of you I would gladly hold under water for extended periods of non-lethal time:
You may have noticed that there was a recent event in our community that has shaken many of us to the core. Has left us angry and wounded, grieving and self-doubting.
If you are ever thinking of following in such a path, reconsider. Because a) it's NOT easier for everyone. And b) we're NOT better off without you.
In fact, I think it's fair to say that for every person reading this, there are at least a dozen people for whom the thought of the world without you in it is a deeply unpleasant if not terrifying one. Call them. Talk to them. Ask for help. That's part of what loving is.
Yes, it's hard. I know. Believe you me, I know. But as you love us, stay with us.
