I'm not familiar with that song, but I can see why the words were resonate.

I lost a class mate suddenly in eighth grade. Someone was playing a transistor radio loudly on the bus on the way home that afternoon, and I heard James Taylor's "Fire and Rain." It was months before I could hear that song and not cry, and years before I could hear it and not think of Debbie.
