lagilman: coffee or die (citron presse)

that was the weekend that was....

Down to Pennsylvania, tra la, for me to help count the votes for SFWA elections. Oh, SFWAns, the number of you smart, talented people who can't manage to follow basic directions is terrifying. Seriously: make your choices, fold that sheet into the ballot envelope, then fold the identifying cover sheet and the ballot envelope into the larger envelope. Mail. And yet... there were more than a dozen ballots that were deemed invalid, because you did not enclose said cover sheet.

Along the way we stopped to do some furniture shopping for G, who is in need (dire need) of a new sofa. I did NOT buy anything, although I do have my eye on something, if the Royalty Fairy is extra-kind.

Votes counted and Officially Signed Off On, we ated a most excellent meal amid much laughter and business talk (G, who used to worry that HIS friends talked too much work during gatherings, no longer worries about this bothering me. When you love what you do, you tend to talk about it.)

During the afternoon, the previously-steady rain had cleared, leaving us with a gorgeous evening. Thus, we decided to not partake of the offered crash space, but headed back to New York, arriving in plenty of time for a nightcap in the Spring-soft night air.

Oh how I miss having a patio. The lack of patio/balcony in my apartment is one of the few drawbacks. But anyway...

Sunday, rather than having to hit the road home, we instead hit the High Line, walking in surprisingly warm sunshine,

pausing for brunch at a lovely place I'm not going to tell y'all about, because then we'll never be able to get in, and then walked back down along the riverwalk proper, until it was time to pack up and head home (via Fairway, home of Nice Meats and Expensive Produce).

And now I am trying to finish up the bit of writing I swore I'd have in Madame Agent's in box tomorrow morning. Oops....
